The NSW Doctor magazine
The NSW Doctor is the flagship publication of the Australian Medical Association (NSW) Limited. The journal is a prime source of communication with AMA membership providing a forum for medico-political debate and informing members of the concerns of contemporary medicine.
The NSW Doctor has a circulation of approximately 8,000, and is published every month except January. The journal is distributed exclusively to AMA members, selected media, other organisations and subscribers.

The AMA has joined the Rural Doctors Association of Australia (RDAA) in calling for an urgent intervention of the flawed new Australian Standard Geographical Classification – Remoteness Areas (ASGC-RA) system which replaced the Rural, Remote and Metropolitan Areas (RRMA) system last year.

Cuts to the Better Access Mental Health Program – where to now? (PDF) (2 Mb)
Federal AMA President, Dr Steve Hambleton spent much of 2011 working hard to reverse the cuts to the Better Access Mental Health Program. Dr Hambleton argued that mental health is an area where significant unmet need exists and that this requires additional investment, not the reallocation of funds from one needy group to another. Unfortunately the Government (and perhaps more importantly, the Treasury bureaucrats) could not be persuaded to see the error of their ways.
